About the Department

Oncology is a highly specialized field of medicine dedicated to the

comprehensive study, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer and its associated

diseases. Cancer, characterized by the uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells,

often forms masses called neoplasms or tumors that proliferate at a faster rate

than the surrounding healthy tissues.

The Department of Oncologic Physiotherapy is a specialized division within

healthcare institutions dedicated to providing comprehensive Physiotherapy

care to individuals undergoing treatment for cancer. Recognizing the unique

needs of cancer patients, this department focuses on enhancing their Physical

well-being, functional abilities, and overall quality of life throughout their

cancer journey.

Oncologic physiotherapy encompasses a range of evidence-based

interventions that aim to address the physical impairments and limitations

resulting from cancer and its treatments. The primary goal is to optimize the

patient's physical function, minimize treatment-related side effects, manage

pain, and promote their overall physical and psychological well-being.

Infrastructure

Pneumatic compression device is used for the treatment of lymphedema.

Advanced skills like Manual Lymphatic Drainage, Multi-Layer Bandaging,

Hydrotherapy are practiced in the department.
