Hon'ble Dr. Vedprakash Mishra, presently the National Head of the Academic Programme of Indian Programme UNESCO Chair in Bio-Ethics Haifa, is an illustrious member of the medical fraternity, well known not only in India but also overseas.
A dynamic orator, he is a keen academician and an astute administrator. Born in Nagpur and educated with an MD degree, he streamlined his life-path to equip himself by completing a Master of Industrial Relation and Personnel Management and a Bachelor’s in Journalism as well.
He has been conferred with the highest academic distinction of D.Sc. (Honoris Causa) by six Health Sciences Universities in the country in recognition of his selfless services to the cause of medical education of consequence and relevance at the National and International levels.
He held the august office of the Hon’ble Chancellor of Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences (Deemed University), Karad for a full term of five years with aplomb from 2014 to 2019.
National Contributions
His association with the Medical Council of India in various capacities has spanned well over three decades, holding prestigious positions including Chairman of the Postgraduate Medical Education Committee, Chairman of the Finance Committee, Member of the Executive Committee, and Chairman of the Academic Committee.
He has the distinction of being recognized as ‘Professor Emeritus’, ‘Professor of Eminence’, and ‘Professor of Excellence’ across five Health Sciences Universities in the country. He holds the office of Pro-Chancellor-cum-Chief Advisor of Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences, Nagpur, and renders his services as the Honorary Director, Centre for Health Professional Education Policy and Planning.

Dr. Mishra functions at multiple higher designations with several educational organizations and is a Consultant Editor for Contemporary World’s ‘Who’s Who’ at the American Biographical Institute, U.S.A.
He has been a pioneer in evolving Postgraduate Degree Courses Curriculum and launching the National Faculty Development Programme for full-time teaching faculty of medical schools in the country. He is the Honorary Advisor to the National Indian Medical Association and Chairman of the Standing Committee for Medical Education.
He has been elected to the Senate, Academic Council, and Board of Management of Nagpur University for a number of terms, achieving distinctions like 'Youngest ever Teacher member' and 'Youngest ever Dean of the Faculty of Medicine'.
Dr. Mishra is the recipient of well over 100 prestigious National and International awards. His unparallel contribution has been acknowledged globally. His father, Shri Gangaprasadji Mishra, sketched his biography titled ‘Dream Child’—a distinctive piece of literature included in the Limca Book of World Records as the only biography of a notable son penned by his father.
